Another great sport-themed edition from the Girls Only series. This one is about Heather who comes from a close-knit, homeschool family. She has a terrific ice dancing partner (her brother) and has done well in her performances. However, trouble begins when Kevin drops her during practice; he teases that she is too heavy. Heather takes it to heart and begins on a lonely journey of obsessive dieting that keeps her focused on just losing 'one more pound'.

I Wish by Ian Lade, 1st Books Library This is the first book by screenwriter Ian Lade. There is the promise of interactive website along with this book (and more in the series?) which gives glimpses of history as well as 'getting to know' the characters in the books. Twelve-year old Sara Yiler's world is falling apart. Her parents have separated and she has moved away to a new town with her father and younger brother. As school begins for Sara, she becomes fevered. Dreams and reality blur for Sara and her odyssey begins. I Wish is in the genre of Wizard of Oz…a classic film that also dabbles in the occult (the looking into the crystal ball in Oz and dealing with ESP here in I Wish)…yet has the promise of being an entertaining screenplay. 125 pages
